writing prompts

As another week comes to a close, the better half emerges from his work trip like the full moon of Guru Purnima. The morning starts with a ruckus as you are already aware.

But as the day arches towards lunch time, I face my predicaments once more. Now that the man of the house is back, he is certainly craving his daal-sabzi (Indian lentils and veggies). But for the kids, it is a Friday. And they wish to give a break to Indian Khana, throw all health claims out the window and give in to something that tantalizes their taste buds. My brain goes around in cricles try to reach a conclusion between Aloo Paratha and Agnostic Avocado sandwiched between soft tortillas – basically Mexican parathas! The younger one is eyeing pizza. I find myself in the middle of cooking three different dishes for four individuals that happen to enjoy the appetite of a tablespoon. I stand there just like the Mandar Parvat (mountain) tossing from one side to another during Samudra Manthan while Vasuki Naag (a serpent) gets pulled by gods on one side and demons on the other. After much deliberation, I decide to outsource pizza, stick to aloo parathas for lunch and quesadillas for dinner.

And pretty much like Rahu, I find myself hungry for nectar from every dish that gets prepared. And while the daily drudgery of life continues, I find myself ambushed by an evening class, the mental preparation for starting out on a new physical training course from tomorrow morning and getting past a very busy weekend filled to the brim with activities. My to-do list is endless. There are a few different pieces I am writing. My book is in the finishing touches zone. I have two assessments coming up in the next week. And I feel ready for none of the above. I am bracing myself for everything.

P.S. I like it when I have my hands full. Juggling tasks is what I enjoy most in the circus of life. The only thing that gives me cold feet – exercise! When you have been arch nemesis all your life using gluttony for armour, all I say is I need loads of luck to get past tomorrow morning.

Notes to self – 6.30pm in the evening is ideal for writing! And it’s time to create a content calendar! There are so many things that occupy my mind. I need to organise my thoughts and have something meaningful to write about every single day.
