writing prompts

Yet another week comes to a close. This has been a weekend of rest and relaxation with National Day fireworks, watching Superman and spending time doing yoga. I must say Superman was the only disappointing bit. If I were 5, I would fall in love with the movie. As a grown-up, the actor playing Superman was eye candy. The rest of the movie, naah. Like my teens say, ‘it did not have the depth’. They have detailed analysis about the villians, the lack of character development and backstories, physical appearances, etc. The list goes on. And since I do not wish to be at the receiving end of any allegations involving plagiarism of their intellectual property, I shall refrain from writing anything at all about the movie. I am not in the mood to pay lawyers for washing my dirty linen in public.

Moving on, I am going to spend this week writing about relationships. The essence of being human is the relationships we build with other humans and sometimes animals and even things. And yet, that’s the place we falter the most. That’s the area that can give us either heartaches or strong bonds. Some relationships that have mattered most to me include parent-child, siblings, spouses, friends, social media audience and most importantly, the relationship with my own self.

So while I work up an appetite to share more on the topic, let me know how have different relationships have treated you. Have you aced the art of confining to social norms and keeping it pleasant? Or do you fall in the category of mortals that hasn’t yet figured how to deal with people? Or are you somewhere in between, finding your way in the grey areas of life? I am all ears.
