What an exciting way to start the weekend. I completed my 6-month Diploma in Digital Marketing.
Feels like such a relief. After six months of being committed, it is time to reap the fruits of my toil.
These six months taught me plenty of new content, most certainly. But more than the technical skills, it brought me back into the learners seat. And got my brain working in a different direction. Here are my top takeaways from life since February this year:
- Learning something new is always fun, especially if you have chosen to do so. The pressure of being forced into a course can alter the experience
- It is always a great idea to learn more from your classmates more than from the facilitator
- Sacrifice is a real thing. Signing up for an evening class thrice a week is harder than staying married.
- Learning a skill is one thing and facing an assessor to answer questions that come swadled in jargon is quite another.
- No matter how old you get, feeling nervous is real before any sort of an exam. It is not necessarily bad. A little tension goes a long way in telling you care. And are ready to do your best.
- Going the extra mile while working on assignments is the way to go. Fortunately, because we are adults and there are no absolute right or wrong answers like back during school days.
- Learning something new makes you feel younger. The collective youth quotient of the family went up during these months. And on days of my assessment, I came across as the most sincere student at home.
- There is always a thrill when you reach the summit. This diploma isn’t just a paper certificate. It is a marker of confidence and the that lifelong learning is a real thing. And if I can do it after ages of staying away from anything academic, so can you!
So tonight, it’s party time! There is no P.S. this evening!
