It is the weekend before one of our favourite Indian festivals – the one of welcoming Lord Ganesh or the elephant God. Also known as the God of wisdom, He is the first among deities to be worshipped in any Hindu ritual.
As a result, we aim to spend all the time until Tuesday getting our home ready to welcome Him. And all the way until next Sunday attending to His every need.
It is the most joyous part of the year where we brainstorm ideas on decoration, create an invitation to invite friends over and meet our esteemed guest, draw up tantalising food menus and narrow down on a dressing up calendar to look at our very best.
Next comes the the task for getting fresh floral garlands and something dessert to offer Him, indulge in chanting verses with the intention of offering gratitude for all the wisdom and hope to imbibe His qualities to become more balanced individuals.
So this week, it’s going to be Ganpati all the way!
