Preps are in full swing for the arrival of our favourite God. In between decoration ideas, experiments, brainstorming, exams, cooking and living life, I wonder how the Singapore Little India market comes alive with the festive fervour.

The street is getting all dressed up for Deepavali while we are still shopping for Ganesh idols and pooja ingredients. Colourful idols of all sizes dot the street with blasting music, fresh flowers getting weaved into garlands and gajras, saree shops welcoming new stock of Indian wear for the upcoming months and locals and tourists adding footfall to the already crowded Little India, giving me a feel of the crammed Indian markets before festivals back home.

In short, I feel at home. There is some magic that incense smells, loud music, festive idols and a plethora of people create when put together in a small surface area. These very elements endorse the joy and spirit of celebration deep within my heart.

P. S. The count down has begun two more days to go!
