As we bade farewell to Bappa today, it was a good reminder that everything in life is temporary, the ups and downs, the happiness and sorrows, youth and old age. In fact, our very life is temporary, isn’t it?

If everything is temporary, doesn’t it make sense to enjoy every moment as it is? Without regrets, without remorse. Experience sorrows deeply and enjoy the highs humbly. Yet, we spend plenty of time complaining, cribbing and desiring more. Never happy with what is.

I think a life well lived is one where we can accept every aspect of life with equal joy. Whether the going is good or tough. Easier said than done. But the chanting for lord Ganesha is a good reminder of this practise. It says may I be still like the God of wisdom, in good times and bad, alike.

We spent plenty of good time with all friends who visited us during these five days. And now it’s business as usual from tomorrow. Until the next year.

Life happens mostly in the moments of nothingness while we are busy surviving. It is the mindfulness with which we exist during these mostly mundane but long periods of unremarkable life that decide whether we are mostly happy or mostly sad. They also decide our quality of achievements and the ability to bounce back. I choose to strive diligently for living mindfully. How about you?
