Navratri, the festival of nine nights where we celebrate the nine different Indian Goddesses has commenced today. The energy during Navratri is believed to be high and amplified, creating a spiritual atmosphere where cosmic energy flows intensely. This heightened energy is linked to celestial alignments, the worship of the Divine Feminine (Shakti), and the lunar cycle, making it an ideal period for spiritual practices, purification, and setting powerful intentions.
It is also a period when people dress up, dance in devotion and engage in house visits to celebrate the festival. The festival is best celebrated with deep awareness and the intention of winning over our own inner demons. Chanting, meditation and detoxification are some other usual practices during this time. But the biggest detoxification by far is letting go of attachments, toxic thinking and foul play. If we can take the time to heighten our awareness and imbibe the knowledge that everything including our life is temporary, we can claim we have understood this festival.
P.S. Just like gravity exists, whether you believe in or not, the high energy in the cosmos during this time is a reality. How fun would it be if we all tried practising mindful living for these nine days as an experiment to figure out how this energy impacts us.
