Have you ever undergone turmoil despite doing it all right? Ticking all boxes of being human? Performing all duties with love? Working diligently? Yet, have you tasted failure, no matter what?

I have been through this cycle more than once. So what does that make me? A failure? A loser?

The first time I floated a company, I signed exclusive partnerships, did roadshows and worked earnestly, things still went downhill. I was too ahead of times. But I was also young. It may have been my first real taste of failing despite all attempts. I wasn’t one to be easily crushed. But the company never turned profitable. After five years of ups and downs, I finally shut shop. Unfortunately, when you are used to feeling smart, this kind of an experience can crush your confidence. And that is exactly what it did to me. I was frustrated to say the least. It impacted my health too. I took a long time to understand, it was only an event, not a failure in permanence.

Fast forward, it is like heart break. When you love doing something, put in all your passion and work into it, but are left to bite dust. So, here’s the question once more. What does it make you? Failure? Loser? The answer depends on your takeaway and actions. If you choose to fall into depression, or give up on life, you have selected failure as your life.

On the contrary, if you evaluate what went wrong, perform a SWOT analysis, capitalise on your strengths and assign your weak areas to an employee or a partner who is strong in that area, you have incresed your chances of success by a 100%.

Other things to work on would be your self, your relationship with work and money, your attitude and keeping up a positive plus growth mindset. Another important part that people ignore – sometimes, we are meant to pursue a different path. However, a different path shouldn’t be the first resort to escape from failure.

P.S. Failure and loser are big words that can weigh us down. But hold on, take it one step at a time. Unless you give up, every failure is nothing but an event that ends up teaching you more than any other university in life.
