Can’t believe it is already starting to feel like the end of the year. And it is almost 5 months since I started writing daily. It is incredible what discipline can do. But what is more incredible is finding topics to write on, daily.

As I sat watching Karate Kid, Jackie Chan reminded me of my childhood and now, almost the end of my adulthood. And he is still the martial arts guy who once inspired us with his swiftness and agility. Really loved the cinematography of the movie. All those scenes from New York gave me a bunch of interesting emotions. The zoom in on the five boroughs, the crowded streets, making hot dog, are scenes that appealed to me. They reminded me of fleeting feelings of visiting a new city, a new country. Of feeling alive while losing oneself in a crowd, like you belong.

And then, there were the real Karate moves. Took me back to childhood when I took karate lessons too. Jackie Chan is really inspiring. His moves influenced me enough to consider taking a refresher course in martial arts again. Something to keep the mind and body alert.

Point is, life is rich with experiences. And some movies have the power to bring alive, parts of life we have forgotten or really enjoy. Some movies inspire you enough to try things you thought were out of league. That’s what Karate Kid did to me.

P.S. A movie night after a hectic day. An appealing movie that struck a chord with me. Brought back fond memories, gave rise to a new health goal and even brought back feelings of the joy of traveling to new places and feeling lost but completely present in the crowd of one of the fastest cities. Good movies know how to weave in the magic.
