What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

Far too many… from real estate to corporate training to sales to HR, to running a cafe or a store, I have considered every possibility under the sun.

The only thing I never once thought fit into the bracket of a career was being a home maker or writer.

Turns out, those are the exact two choices life made for me. Despite all my plans, I spent the past many years staying home and freelancing. Ten years ago, we went through a tragic loss as a family. It led to moving base. Rocking our safely moored boat. Everything felt overwhelming. And that’s when writing came to my rescue. Not as a career or passion, but as a vent, an outburst channel that offered relief. And since fb was readily available, I shared something online.

And there has been no looking back. People have supported me in my journey both online and offline. And slowly and steadily, my writing became my voice. Not a career.

I meet people who plan to write books. But do not write a word. They believe writing is a fancy profession. I guess I understand them. Because that’s exactly how I behave when it comes to working out. I wish for that body and that calorific deficit… but I need a big big push to begin.

P.S. Of the many careers one might consider, running my own cafe by the beach, serving hot coffee and chilled martinis with something artsy for the patrons, a cosy nest for conversations and a place that makes people feel home is what I wish to do some day!

that’s a beautiful dream you have of running your own cozy cafe by the beach. i used to dream of owning a small pub lloret de mar, spain. i imagined hanging out on the beach during the day and bartending at night.
